Hey hockey fans, my name is Jake and I’m excited to be a new addition to RotoRadar as I provide NHL picks for the 2022-23 regular season! I hope this year we can all collaborate through the RR Discord and other socials to nail home some unseen/money making props and other bets.
We have a small 3-game slate this Wednesday, but it’s just enough to make some smart selections. At the very least, being this early in the year, it’ll be interesting to see how teams develop line pairings and handle tough opponents. One of the more notable matchups features the Winnipeg Jets, who have a back-to-back against both the Colorado Avalanche Wednesday and the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday night. Definitely something to keep in mind if you’re looking to get some action on a puck line going into Thursday night’s 12-game slate.
Selections for Wednesday, October 18th, 2022
Anytime Point Scorer:
Cale Makar – It’s really hard to imagine Colorado doing anything but dominate again this season. Scoring 14 goals in their first 3 games, the 5-3 loss to Calgary means nothing to Lord Stanley’s gatekeepers. Makar is tied for most SOG (shots on goal) amongst all Avalanche defensemen, as well as having first power play unit duties. Add in the fact that the Avs have scored on half of their PPs this young season, we can look for him to add to his 4pt total against the Jets while holding prop value as opposed to a chalk pick like Nathan MacKinnon.
Over/Under:
Under 6.5 total goals STL @ SEA (-118) – Both teams are in the bottom half of the league in terms of SOG/GM this year. Both teams are also in the TOP half of the league in terms of SOG allowed/GM this year. Look for a late night under to help you ease to sleep.
Team Total:
Over 3.5 total Goals for COL (-102) – Again, Colorado is going to bring it fast, heavy, and often this year — Especially against a team like Winnipeg still trying to find their identity early on in the season. Sprinkle a little love on the puck line if you’re feeling saucy, but expect the Avs to bring it home easy tonight.
