The NHL Fantasy “Power Play” — 11.12.22

Hey hockey fans, my name is Jake and I’m excited to be a new addition to RotoRadar as I provide NHL picks for the 2022-23 regular season! I hope this year we can all collaborate through the RR Discord and other socials to nail home some unseen/money making props and other bets. The RotoRadar Fantasy Power Play has gone 11-3-1 this year in picks/props and excited to continue to build on early success. Here are some picks that stood out to me heading into a giant Saturday night in the NHL.

Selections for Saturday, November 12th, 2022

Montreal Canadiens ML (FanDuel +134) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Home ice underdog. The “tired legs” mentality worked for us earlier in the week, and we’re sticking with it here. Pittsburgh is finishing up their fourth back-to-back of the year already. In the previous 3, they have lost the second game each time, scoring only 5 goals in all 3 games combined. Although Montreal isn’t lighting it up this year, they have won two straight and have beaten the Pens in their matchup in mid-October. Nice opportunity here to put a little cash in your pocket while simultaneously cheering against Sidney Crosby. Win-win!

P.S. – I’m not telling you to bet the under on total goals as well, but I’m not NOT telling you to bet the under on total goals. I’m just making you aware that it’s an option. Kind of a “choose your own destiny” thing here.

Vegas Golden Knights -1.5 (Fanduel +114) vs. St. Louis Blues

Look, I know a puck line at nearly even money seems off-putting, but this is just an absolute gimme. Vegas hasn’t lost a game in 3 weeks and the offense is only getting hotter. 22 goals in their last 4 games. Jack Eichel looks like he wants the Hart Memorial Trophy and has helped the Knights to a +23 goal differential this year. Meanwhile, St. Louis is an absolute dumpster fire at the bottom of the central division. The Blues offense is abysmal with a league-worst 2.33 G/GM, and their defense isn’t much better giving up an average of 3.83 G/GM which is 4th worst in the league.

Mark Stone Over .5 points vs. St. Louis Blues

Mark Stone is a prop gift from the gambling gods. Just under Eichel’s shadow enough to make the odds worth it while continuing to produce night after night. 2-game point streak for Stone and I don’t see any reason he shouldn’t keep it going against the Blues.

Boston Bruins @ Buffalo Sabres Over 6.5 Total Goals

Boston is looking like a major cup-contender this year and is averaging a league-high 4.00 G/GM. Just behind them in second is Buffalo at 3.86 G/GM. While Buffalo scores a lot of goals, they also give up a lot of goals. 49 goals against in their first 14 games. 2 high scoring offenses and 1 below-average defense is enough to get to 7 goals as Boston looks to stay at the top of the power rankings.

NY Islanders Over 3.5 Total Team Goals vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

The Blue jackets are in the leagues bottom 3 of both Goals Allowed/GM as well as Shots Allowed/GM. Even worse, they just lost a star Defenseman in Zach Werenski for the rest of the year to an upper-body injury. The Islanders are 4-2 in November and although they got shutout by Arizona (yeah, really), they have scored 16 goals in the games they have won this month. Islanders should light the lamp plenty at home here.
