Hey hockey fans, my name is Jake and I’m excited to be a new addition to RotoRadar as I provide NHL picks for the 2022-23 regular season! I hope this year we can all collaborate through the RR Discord and other socials to nail home some unseen/money making props and other bets. With 13 games tonight and no teams playing yesterday, the first thing that comes to mind is thinking “fresh legs — lots of energy”. This means excitement. Goals. Hits. Fast skates and silky mitts. Here are some of my thoughts and ideas that stood out while looking over the games tonight:
Selections for Thursday, November 3rd, 2022
Props To Consider: Mark Stone Over 0.5 pts:
Stone is a player who is always in position to make a play. A solid PP performer, and in the top of the team’s shots, points, and +/-. Eichel is always a solid option, but if you can find Stone with likely better odds, he always makes the hockey happen.
Vegas Golden Knights Over 3.5 total goals @ Ottawa Senators
Vegas is cruising with a 5-game win streak and there shouldn’t be any reason they slow down tonight. Ottawa is at the bottom of the Atlantic Division and has lost its last 3 straight. Combine that with the fact that Vegas has given up only 19 goals in their first 11 games — you can expect Vegas to roll over a team that’s in the lower half of SOG/GM this year. Keep your eye on Vegas during their road trip. Tease a puck line for the next three games. Facing Ottawa, Montreal, and a slow starting Toronto, this weekend feels like an opportunity for Vegas, a team near the top of the power rankings, to feast on the road.
New Jersey Devils @ Edmonton Oilers Over 6.5 Total Goals:
This has all the feelings of a high-octane hockey game. New Jersey is heading into Edmonton in what is maybe the Devil’s first real test this year after taking advantage of an arguably easy start to the season. Although it will be interesting to see who gets the call in net for Edmonton (Skinner has looked strong to start the season), it is worth noting that New Jersey has out-shot their opponent at an average of over 16 S/GM. After crushing Columbus into the ice 7-1 and winning convincingly 5-2 against Vancouver, New Jersey is ready to face one of the stacked teams in the NHL. Edmonton is an absolute monster. McDavid and Draisaitl are starting the season at the top of their game and are looking to score goals every time they hit the ice, helping the Oilers average over 4 G/GM so far.
Washington Capitals @ Detroit Red Wings Under 6.5 Total Goals:
Both teams are off to a less than thrilling start to the season. Washington is missing multiple key pieces due to injury, and Detroit has scored 6 goals in their last 3 games. Goaltending hasn’t been anything to write home about, but neither has the goaltending for either team.
New York Islanders (+104) @ St. Louis Blues:
Call me crazy, but I don’t know how the Islanders are an underdog here. The Blues have lost 5 straight and the Islanders have won 4 straight. St Louis is averaging less than 2.5 G/GM, and the Islanders are only giving up 2.5 G/GM. This should be an easy win for an Islanders team looking to stay hot.
Dallas Stars -1.5 @ Arizona Coyotes:
Home ice means nothing in Arizona. You and I could go to this game and pay more for parking and two beers than we’d pay for two tickets in the 100 section. Dallas is looking strong early, leading the Central Division. Arizona wont string together two wins for a month. Look for Dallas to roll.
